The Hot Wire Foam Factory
is the perfect accessory for classroom projects, holiday decorations,
and even for making realistic props for movies.
This skull was made by simply
cutting out a rectangular block of foam with the approximate dimensions
of the skull. The frontal shape was traced onto the block and then cut
on the Hot Scroll Saw.
Without removing the partially
carved skull, the silhouette was drawn onto the side of the block of foam
and cut out.
Now, when the skull is removed
from the foam block it has all the basic shapes and only needs to be rounded
out and have the details like the teeth cut out.
It helps to make the lower
jaw separate, and attach later with wires or pins. That way the jaw can
open and close too.
For added realism you can
carve out the inside of the skull with the Sculpting Tool.
