First of all, the Hot Wire website is terrific for helping a "first-timer" learn how to use the tools. Then everything in the tool kit was as expected. What a great way to landscape a Christmas village.
Not certain how to use the sculpting tool when I ordered it, I also ordered the tensioner which gave me more confidence that I was not damaging the wire while I was working with it.
After completing my project, I'm still not sure how to use the Foam Coat. I did experiment with a couple of different consistencies. At first I thought it was necessary to apply before painting, but I found I could paint the foam without the foam coat. I also expected to use it to smooth out some rough spots, but I haven't quite developed the right technique yet.
This tool is a must-have if trying to make clean cuts through inches of foam. I wouldn’t be able to create my village displays without it; to divide up large displays into sections, to make holes for light cords through thick layers or foam. It’s indispensible!
